Pokhari Bugyal Trek – A Hidden Gem in Harsil Valley
···—

Pokhari Bugyal Trek is one of the most beautiful yet lesser-known treks in the Harsil Valley. This scenic trek begins from Jaspur village, a small Himalayan village surrounded by forests and mountains. Although the trek is short, it offers breathtaking views of the entire valley and surrounding Himalayan ranges.

This trek is perfect for travelers who want to experience the beauty of the Himalayas without doing a long or difficult treks. In just 2–3 days, trekkers can witness stunning meadows, waterfalls, forests, and snow-covered peaks.

Trek Route and Experience

The trek starts from Jaspur village in Harsil Valley. From here the trail moves through forests and mountain paths while crossing the Khadra Gad stream. The route is peaceful and full of natural beauty.

After trekking for 2 – 3 kilometers, you reach Khadara Waterfall, which is the first night camping point.

This waterfall is considered one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Harsil Valley. Its most unique feature is a natural jacuzzi pool formed by the waterfall itself. Trekkers can relax in the cool mountain water and enjoy a natural spa-like experience in the middle of the Himalayas.

Camping near the waterfall under the open sky is an unforgettable experience.

On the second day, the trek continues towards Pokhari Bugyal, passing through Nakchha Bugyal and Liyuru Mundiyav. The trail gradually opens into wide alpine meadows surrounded by Himalayan peaks.

During June, July, August, and September, local Gujjar shepherds stay here with their livestock for grazing, creating a lively seasonal settlement in the meadows.

Along the way you will also see Bhojpatra trees, which are historically important. In ancient times, people used the bark of these trees as paper for writing sacred texts and manuscripts.

Spectacular Mountain Views

From Pokhari Bugyal, trekkers can enjoy panoramic views of several Himalayan landmarks, including: Bhagirathi Valley Awana Bugyal Adu Top Mount Horn of Harsil The magnificent Gangotri mountain range

The vast open meadow combined with snow peaks creates one of the most beautiful viewpoints in the entire Harsil region.
