Gartang Gali Nelong Valley

Brief Description

One of the most thrilling and exciting treks in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. Gartang Gali, opened for visitors and tourists in 2021 after 59 years. Located in the picturesque Nelong Valley near the India-China border. The 150-year-old Gartang Gali is a 136-metre-long wooden lined staircase. about which it is said that it was built by Peshawari Pathans. Who cut it and made an architectural masterpiece. It had broken in the years after it was rendered unusable after the Indo-China war in 1962.
