Karol Tibba Trek – A Scenic Himalayan Escape in Solan
···—

Karol Tibba Trek is one of the most beautiful and culturally rich hikes in the Solan district of Himachal Pradesh. This trek begins near Chamba Ghat or Dade Ghat, close to Solan, and takes you through dense forests, peaceful meadows, and spiritual landmarks, offering a perfect mix of nature, adventure, and mythology.

Overview of the Trek

Starting Point Chamba Ghat / Dade Ghat near Solan Summit Altitude: Approx. 2,800 meters 9,186 ft Easy or Best Time to Visit April–June & September–December Trek Duration 1 day can also be done as an overnight trek.
Karol Tibba is considered one of the highest peaks around Solan and offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Himalayan ranges.

What Makes Karol Tibba Trek Special?

The trek route passes through pure and thick forests of oak, rhododendron, and deodar trees. The peaceful environment, fresh mountain air, and chirping of birds make the journey extremely refreshing. Nature lovers and photographers especially enjoy this trail.

Karoli Mata Temple

Karol Tibba Temple, also known as Karoli Mata Temple, is situated near the summit. It is an important spiritual spot for locals. Many devotees visit the temple, especially during religious festivals. The peaceful surroundings and mountain views make it a perfect resting point before reaching the top.

Pandav Gufa (Pandava Cave)

One of the most fascinating highlights of this trek is the Pandav Gufa.

According to local legends, during their exile (vanvas), the Pandavas from the epic Mahabharata stayed here for some time in secrecy (Agyat Vaas). It is believed that this cave extends approximately 26–27 km inside the mountain, possibly connecting to the region of Kalka.

While the full length of the cave has not been officially explored or scientifically confirmed, it remains a strong part of local folklore and attracts many curious trekkers and devotees. The cave is narrow and dark inside, so visitors should be careful and carry proper lighting if entering.
